Donegal's Irish House is opening soon (June 24), it won’t quite be business as usual, but together we’ll get it back to where we all want it to be.
Donegal’s has the reputation as the premier Live Music Venue in the area, and we will remain committed to that…..We try to do everything we do to the highest level, we don’t cut corners, and we won’t take risks with the health and safety of our guests; with that being said, we will be taking our time in bringing Live Music back to our stage. We will be working with local health officers, our staff, and some trusted musicians, to formulate a plan, and to make sure that when we do, we can ensure that it is done right.
Covid has changed all our lives in some way, some have felt that change far more than others, and we need to be sensitive to the needs of our community. I have had a lot of time to think, and to observe; watching the numbers climbing across our southern border with their reopening, hearing some of our friends expressing their fears about what might happen here; this all means a lot to me. As a good neighbor, we need to think beyond our immediate needs, and think of the community as a whole; how do we create positive impact with what we do? Yes, I’m anxious to start getting those sales up, it’s been 3 months of no income, and the natural inclination is to ramp up business as fast as we can; but I believe that to be shortsighted, and potentially harmful. We will not be responsible for taking risks that could cause an outbreak just to make a few bucks; the lives of our community mean more than that, we will find a way to do it better.
This is hard, you know we love to throw a party, and we’ve been dreaming about this party since they shut us down…..literally, as we were clearing out the bar we were already planning our triumphant return; but, sadly reality is a bit of a killjoy. However, we will throw you a big ass party, believe me, we’ve got lots of missed partying to make up for; but we’re all just going to have to be patient for a little longer.
Our commitment to you, and to our community it this: we will take our time, we put the welfare of those around us above our own bottom line, and we will bring back live music in a manner and time that will ensure both the safety of our guests and staff, as well as the comfort of our community at large. This isn’t a sprint, this is a marathon; we’re in this for the long haul, and we can afford to take the time, to pace ourselves and to really get it right.
This is all new to all of us, everyday is a new learning experience, but with time and patience, we can get our lives back to normal.
